Ann Sherley

Life is a sequence of creative expressions. After many years of dabbling in needlework, pottery, sculpting and stained glass, the desire to paint finally broke through. For me, there is magic and challenge in watercolor’s unpredictability. It asks the artist to be spontaneous as it participates in the painting process. Oil painting allows more flexibility in drawing and composition – and the prerogative to change one’s mind in the middle of a painting. My watercolors and oils are essentially representational, sometimes slightly impressionistic. Through my art, I seek to convey my awe and wonder at the beauty of our world, both natural and man made, to invite contemplation and offer a moment of peacefulness.
