Ingrid Burnett

My primary area of interest is painting landscapes and still life arrangements in pastel. Working in pastels allows me to work with pure pigments on sanded paper. The richness and variety of color is incredibly appealing. Artists have been working in pastels for many years; but the medium is once again drawing more interest. Noted pastelists of the past are the artists Degas, Renoir, and Cassatt. I became interested in pastel painting through courses at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico where I studied with New Mexican pastel artist Susan Daugherty and Bob Rohm from Texas. In addition, I have attended classes in northern Colorado given by Ann Sherley, Jody Goodwine, and Patti Andre. In addition to my passion for painting in pastels, I paint in oils and watercolor and love plain air painting, which I practice whenever possible.
